The Frances Foundation is pleased to announce its affiliation with the Institute For Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders (www.theinstituteforchildren.org). What this means is that the Institute and the Foundation will communicate and share information and ideas on how we can help the kids. The institute is a non profit organization that provides support services ranging from emergency needs funding, counseling services and very broad variety of support for the kids and their families while continuing to support research initiatives. For example, the Frances Foundation has donated food, toys and gifts toward the Institute’s annual patient’s holiday party for three years. In 2002, approximately 400 children and their siblings joined the holiday celebration in the atrium of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The Holiday Party includes live entertainment, walk-about characters, and musical talents. The children can take partake in a variety of activities including sand art, spin art, face painting, and fun surprises. There will be tons of delicious food, a sundae bar with all the fixings imaginable; and during the party, the patients and their siblings are showered with gifts that have been generously donated. Hopefully for a few hours the party helps a child to forget the pain and helps parents forget their child’s illness.
